Parkfield is is a natural open space and parts of it are managed as traditional hay meadow.

A Roman Kiln was discovered in the park in the 1950s and an archaeological survey was carried out with local schools in 2002.  An information panel with all the facts can be found close to the site.

There are five entrances into the park from the High Street, The Walk, Byng Drive, Billy Lows Lane and Richmond Court.
