Household waste - bulky items
Regulations stipulate that certain materials are separately collected and you will be asked to state what it is you require collecting so that this can be properly planned.
If you have a large item such as a piece of furniture or a fridge etc you wish to dispose of, we offer a special collection service although there is a charge for this.
Furniture reuse schemes
If you have an item of furniture that you do not need any more, but is also in good condition, why not donate it to your local furniture reuse group? Most of the organisations in Hertfordshire can provide a collection service directly from your home. Please visit WasteAware

General points to follow
- All items must be listed
- Only items listed will be removed
- Items should not be filled with other rubbish
- Items must be easily accessible and at one point, outside the property.
How can I dispose of large household items?
If you have a large item such as a piece of furniture or a fridge you wish to dispose of, we offer the Special collection for large items service at a charge.
How can I request this service?

When will you collect?
You will be informed when your collection will take place. It may be necessary to arrange more than one visit if certain items are included.
You should make the items available to the collectors outside your property. For insurance and safety reasons, collectors are not allowed to enter your premises.
Please note that items should be available for collection from 7.00AM. The items will be collected between the hours of 7.00AM and 5.00PM.
What will you collect?
We will collect maximum of 5 household items such as 3-piece suite (which is classed as three items), carpets, chairs, beds and mattresses.
What won't you collect?

- sheds
- greenhouses
- bags of rubble
- fence panels
- concrete posts
- car/motorbike parts
- garage doors/window frames
- christmas trees
- garden waste e.g. trees
- asbestos
- fluid containers e.g. drums
- large crates
- wire fencing and large fire surrounds
- general builders waste
- doors - internal and external
What will it cost me?
Collection of up to 3 items is £33 and £10 per additional item thereafter.
All fridges and freezers are £45 for one item and £10 for additional items thereafter.
