Community grants

We offer small-scale financial support to local voluntary groups and organisations to help them provide a range of community services to Hertsmere residents. Charitable / voluntary organisations can apply against a range of funding streams.

Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS)

Each of our 39 councillors has £500 to spend on worthwhile projects in their ward that support Hertsmere's corporate goals.

Celebration Grants

To mark special events, e.g. Hertsmere's 50th Anniversary, national celebrations etc. we may offer celebration grants.  These grants can be used by voluntary organisations, based in Hertsmere, to celebrate these occasions as they wish.

Hertsmere Community Lottery

Hertsmere Community Lottery provides online sustainable fundraising for local good causes.  For every £1 ticket sold groups receive 50p back, whilst their supporters are in with a chance of winning up to £25,000 in the weekly draw.  It's free to sign up and groups receive their own webpage on the site along with support to encourage ticket sales.

Health and Wellbeing grants

The Health and Wellbeing Partnership Health Grants is aimed at supporting local community and voluntary groups in Hertsmere to improve health and wellbeing for those that live, work and visit the area.  Find out more here.

Climate Action Community Grant

The new Climate Action Community Grant provides funding of up to £500 to community-based organisations taking measures locally to tackle our climate emergency. The grants will support practical measures such as tree planting and habitat improvement; education programmes to increase awareness and the skills needed to change and adapt lifestyles; green travel and transport schemes; energy saving in community buildings; local food initiatives; and recycling and reuse projects.

Disabled Facilities Grants

Disabled Facilities Grants are to adapt homes to make them more suitable for disabled people to live in and manage independently. The grants are available to people who are registered, or registerable, as disabled.

Owner occupiers, tenants and landlords on behalf of tenants can apply but they must do so through the occupational therapist at Hertfordshire County Council Social Services Department who will specify the necessary adaptations.

Tesco Bags of Help

The money raised from the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores in England, Wales and Scotland is being used to pay for a large number of local projects to improve green spaces in communities. Projects that will get the green light as a result of the funding will include building new pocket parks, sports facilities, woodland walks and community gardens.

Administration of the local funding is being managed by the community charity with a green heart, Groundwork, which specialises in transforming communities and the local environment for the better.
