Have you received a survey asking about energy efficiency in your home? If so, fill it out now and you could be in with a chance to win £300 in time for Christmas.
Every year the Department of Energy and Climate Change asks Hertsmere Borough Council to undertake a survey of energy efficiency in their area and letters go to 6,000 homes, selected at random.
Hertsmere participates as part of a project with around 35 other local authorities, in conjunction with the Carbon Action Network for the Eastern Region. The results of the survey are used to map the incidence of fuel poverty in the area and to offer specific energy advice to householders and anybody returning a completed energy survey form will be entered into a draw to win one of four £300 cash prizes.
Cllr Jean Heywood, portfolio holder for the environment, explained: "It is important that we all do our bit for the environment. Every year the council provides this information to central government and these figures are used to show how well we are doing as a council against our targets. This survey is extremely important for our area, as it provides information which will be used by the government to help decide how much money they will provide into our council area in the future. If you receive it please fill it in - you have nothing to lose and you could win some money."
The draw closes on 15 December 2009.
If you wish to participate in the survey but have not received a questionnaire, contact Sue Hardy, Hertsmere’s energy conservation officer, on 020 8207 2277.
