Hertsmere Heritage Forum
The forum brings together several local community heritage groups with the aim of celebrating, developing and promoting art and culture within the borough.
What is the Hertsmere Heritage Forum?
The borough of Hertsmere has a rich artistic heritage dating back to at least the nineteenth century that includes sculpture, fine art, film and television.
In order to bring together the wide variety of local community groups who play a significant role in developing arts and culture across the borough the new Hertsmere Heritage Forum has been established.
To date membership of the group includes:
- Bushey, Potters Bar and Borehamwood museums
- Hertsmere Borough Council
- Elstree Screen Heritage
- Radlett History Society
- Hertfordshire County Council
All have the common goal of providing a co-ordinated and united approach to developing arts and culture throughout the borough.

What are the key objectives?
- To provide a unified voice for Museums and Heritage, helping to protect current services and develop provision across the Borough.
- Provide a mechanism to enable the Council to communicate to all heritage providers e.g. to consult on the Hetitage Strategy.
- Discuss ways in which organisations can work on projects to address joint issues and needs e.g. extra support for museums, training opportunities.
- Work as a consortia to attract external funding.
Chair of the Heritage Forum and Hertsmere Borough Coucil's portfollio holder for Culture, Leisure and Health, Councillor Brenda Batten said:
“The Heritage Forum provides a unified and co-ordinated approach to celebrating and developing Hertsmere’s rich cultural heritage and I am delighted Hertsmere Borough Council is a key partner in supporting such a dedicated collection of local volunteers.”
