Footie sessions for over 30s

If you are a man over 30 and want to get into playing football, keep reading.

Hertsmere Borough Council, in partnership with Hertsmere Leisure, has teamed up with Hertfordshire Football Association to launch a new five-a-side football league aimed at getting men who are 30 and over to lace up their boots and get fit by playing football.

The league will run for 10 weeks starting on Tuesday 17 January and is the perfect way to get rid of some extra pounds from overindulging during the festive season.  So what are you waiting for?  Grab a group of your mates and get ready to have fun and keep fit.

Helen Bottomley, Community Sports Officer at Hertsmere Borough Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for young men who might have played football at school, to get back into it.  We hope the sessions will help them keep fit and look after themselves."

The sessions will take place in Potters Bar, at the Furzefield Centre from 7pm to 10pm every Tuesday, as well as at three other venues across Herts – in Hoddesdon, Stevenage and Tring.

There is a £100 cost for each squad which goes towards the cost of providing qualified and FA affiliated referees and league coordinators.  All registered teams will also be entered into free prize draws to win football prizes including Watford FC match tickets, Umbro equipment, England match tickets and more.

The league is for men only – mixed teams over the age of 13 are not permitted by the FA.
