A new community theatre, the renovation of Bushey Rose Garden and investment in local parks are just three of the key projects which are the focus for development in Hertsmere over the next three years.

They form part of the new Cultural Strategy for Hertsmere, called Keep Smiling, which was officially launched by Hertsmere Borough Council's Cultural and Health Portfolio Holder, Councillor Brenda Batten.

The strategy details a wide range of exciting leisure and cultural proposals planned for the next three years including proposals for park rangers to run fun events in the borough's parks.

Cllr Batten said: "Leisure and culture plays an important role in improving the quality of life of Hertsmere's residents in a variety of different ways. It improves health and well-being, helps develop friendships, improves the environment, has a positive impact on community safety and creates a feel-good factor."

Hertsmere Borough Council's Cultural Services Manager, Paul Nanji, added: "The Keep Smiling Cultural Strategy was developed in partnership with a variety of local community organisations and local residents. It therefore represents the aspirations of improving leisure and cultural opportunities for Hertsmere as a whole and sets out many challenges that will impact positively for all residents."
