Pablo, an eight year old boxer from Stanmore, barked off competition from around 100 dogs to win the Best in Show title at this year's Dog Show on Sunday 1st July at King George Recreation Ground, Bushey.

The Dog Show, organised by the council as part of the Bushey Festival, was nearly rained off but the sun managed to shine for a few hours for the dedicated dogs and their owners.  £125 was raised through a small entry fee, some of which will be donated to the Akita Rescue and Welfare UK as in past years.

Pablo won the variety veteran category in the pedigree class then went on to win the overall title.  He was picked out by judges because of a number of reasons including his health, coat, condition and eyes.

Pablo's owner, Nicola Beaumont, is a regular visiter to King George Recreation Ground and was very chuffed her dog was chosen out of 100 other pets.  "I'm very proud that he won the best in show and I'm very excited about the portrait of Pablo I'll get by the local artist Helen Cooksley as a prize, I can't wait to see it!"

Shaz Setoudeh, organiser of the show as Parks Events and Project Officer at Hertsmere Borough Council, was pleased the show wasn't spoilt by the rain.  "Once again the Dog Show was attended by many dog lovers despite the recent bad weather so I was delighted at the turnout.  Staff from the council and volunteers from the Bushey Festival team worked really hard to make the event a success so I would like to extend my thanks to them all."
