Herts Youth Games 2010

Information about Hertsmere's entry into the 2010 Hertfordshire Youth Games

Every year local schools and sports clubs come together in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council to take part in the Hertfordshire Youth Games. 

The main aim of the competition is to attract children into regular sporting activity and all participating children are invited to join all the various sports clubs involved in the event.

Trials and training will take place in the following sports:

SPORT AGE GROUP (School year)
Aquathlon (Swimming and Running) Year 9&10 and year 7&8
Athletics (Sports Hall) Year 5&6
Badminton Year 7 and below
Basketball Boys Year 6&7
Cricket (Kwik) Girls Year 6 and below
Football Girls Year 3&4
Netball Girls Year 9&10
Rugby (Tag) Girls Year 5&6
Table Tennis Year 9 and below

Basketball training starts on Thursday 28th January 2010 and on the following dates, 4th February, 11th February, 25th February, 4th March, 11th March, 18th March and 25th March from 6:30pm-8pm at Queens School's sports Hall, Aldenham Road, Bushey.  Selection for the team will take place after Easter.

In 2009, Hertsmere entered 15 teams into the youth games including Netball, Hockey, Basketball, Boccia, Badminton and Athletics, with over 150 children and young people representing the district over the weekend.

There was a number of medal placings including a silver in Badminton, and Bronze in the following sports, Girls Football, Kwik Cricket, Boccia and Aquathlon.
