Core Strategy Development Plan Document
Hertsmere Borough Council has to put together a plan of what development there should be, and where, in the borough until 2027.
The Core Strategy will guide the development of the borough over the next 15 years and once adopted, it will become an important document for assessing planning applications. It addresses national and regional policy requirements, as well as local community needs. This plan will also influence how and where land is allocated for development, but, does not deal with specific sites. Sites for development will be identified in the Site Allocations Plan, which we will consult on in 2012.
On 16th November 2011 the Council’s full Council approved a Core Strategy for submission to the Secretary of State. It was also resolved that the document be approved for interim development control use in the determination of all planning applications registered on or after 28th November 2011.
The consultation for the Core Strategy document and updated Sustainability Appraisal closed on Monday 9th January 2012. A total of 188 representations were received, from 55 separate parties. The Council is now in the process of preparing for the submission of the Core Strategy, which will take place in early February.
