Radlett District Centre Planning Brief SPD

The Radlett District Centre - Key Locations: Planning Brief Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has been adopted by the Council with effect for planning applications registered on or after 16 March 2011.

What is the Brief?

The Brief sets out the constraints and planning policy contexts for four locations in Radlett. These are:

• Location A – Radlett Service Station/Regency House, Former Radlett Fire Station, and Burrell & Co.;
• Location B – Newberries Car Park;
• Location C – Radlett Village Institute; and
• Location D – Red House Surgery and Post Office.

The Brief provides advice on how the Council’s existing policies should be applied. Its aim is to ensure that key development opportunities in and immediately adjoining Radlett District Centre are maximised. It will also guide any development in order that it enhances the existing character, appearance and function of this Centre.

How does the Brief affect these locations?

The Brief provides guidance on the types of development – and, in particular, the uses – that would be appropriate at each site. Where required it also advises on more detailed issues such as scale, design, landscaping and possible car parking arrangements. It should be noted, however, that the brief does not introduce any new policies.
