Residents who missed out on attending a planning meeting about a disused pub will now get the chance to go along.
Hertsmere Borough Council has been considering an application to convert the former Kings Head pub in Little Bushey Lane, Bushey, into seven flats.
On 27 May the Bushey and Aldenham Planning Committee met in Radlett to discuss the application and, after careful consideration, decided it could go ahead, with certain conditions.
At the meeting the applicant spoke in favour of the proposed development, and while no-one had registered to speak against the plans the letters of objection received by the council were discussed and considered.
However it later became clear that an administration error meant that the letter sent to residents telling them about the meeting had given the wrong venue.
Cllr Seamus Quilty, chair of the planning meeting, said: "We can understand residents' anger and frustration as the mistake on the letter meant they could not attend in person.
"After careful consideration and following advice from officers, we felt the best way forward was to re-hear the application and letters have been re-sent to residents, this time with the correct details on."
The meeting to determine the application (reference: TP/08/0608) will now be held on Thursday 26 June, at 7.30pm at the Bushey Country Club, High Street, Bushey, Herts.
Cllr Quilty continued: "The public play an important part in the planning process and we are sorry for any inconvenience that may have been caused. We do hope that any interested parties will come along to the new date."
Please note: there are strict procedures around speaking at a planning meeting. To help the committee decide on planning matters the council allows one person to speak at the committee in favour of a development and one person against. Speakers have up to three minutes. If you wish to attend the meeting you may do so freely, but if you wish to speak you will need to phone 0500 400160 between 10am and 4pm on the day of the meeting. The line is open on meeting days only. If the line is busy, please call back. Requests are dealt with on this number only on the day of the meeting.
