Parking plans considered further

Possible changes to car parking management in Bushey and Bushey Heath are still being considered by the Council.

Residents and businesses had until early November to register their comments about the Council’s intial proposals and nearly 60 comments were received, some objecting the proposals, some supporting and others asking for clarification.

Cllr Spencer Pitfield, portfolio holder for Transportation and Planning, said: “We are very pleased that a number of residents and traders have taken the time to contact us and share their views and thank everyone for their comments.”

“I will be discussing with officers the issues raised and plan to arrange a meeting with local groups to discuss the options further before any definite decisions are made.”

Following the further discussions, officers will report back their findings to the Executive meeting in early 2007 with recommendations for the way forward.

Original proposals included introducing charges for the public car parks and installing pay and display ticket machines along the High Street and High Road areas, although parking here will remain free, but be limited to one hour with no return within two hours. Additional enforcement would also be introduced to improve the turn around of spaces and discourage long stay business parking.
