Find out when your road is swept

Mechanical sweepers are used across the Borough every day to sweep Hertsmere’s streets. To find out when a particular road is swept please enter the road name into the street cleansing database then read the notes below.

Details of cleansing information

Some road names appear in two or more different areas, e.g. Park Road in Bushey and Park Road in Radlett. The area that a road is in located is listed next to it.

If there are shops in a road that are swept more frequently than the rest of the road, these will be listed separately under the road name.

Please note that during the autumn season there will be some restrictions to the service as the sweepers will concentrate on the clearance of leaves from around the borough.

Daily – the road is swept everyday.

Weekly – the road is swept weekly.

Week 1, 2, 3 or 4 – the road will be swept sometime during this week. Please refer to the Street Cleansing calendar to find out which week we are currently on.

Weeks 1 & 3 – the road is swept in week 1 and again in week 3, i.e. twice monthly. Please refer to the Street Cleansing calendar to find out which week we are currently on.

Weeks 2 & 4 – the road is swept in week 2 and week 4, i.e. twice monthly. Please refer to the Street Cleansing calendar to find out which week we are currently on.

Twice yearly – the roads will be swept every 6 months.

Path – roads listed as this are inaccessible to our mechanical sweepers. They are litter picked by barrow cleaners on an unscheduled basis.

Road closure – these roads are difficult to access and are subject to a scheduled road closure in order to be swept.

* This road is scheduled to be swept in the week listed. However, if a vehicle’s attempt to access the road is unsuccessful a road closure may need to be scheduled.

Private – Hertsmere Borough Council do not sweep private roads.

Unadopted – These roads are, as yet, unadopted and therefore not swept by Hertsmere Borough Council.
