Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Arrangements for Licensing Service

In light of recent government advice about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) we have had to make some changes to the Licensing Service, and some of these may affect you and your business.

These changes have been made to help minimise the risk and spread of the virus, and to keep our staff and our customers safe.

Please be assured that we are working to deliver our services, but in some circumstances, we have had no choice but to temporarily suspend the service. Our priority will be to ensure that existing licence holders and businesses can continue to operate, where possible.

This is a difficult and unprecedented situation. We will continue to monitor the situation, and this web page will be kept up to date with all changes, including when normal service will resume.

Staffing / Telephones

At the moment, all Licensing Officers are working from home as advised by the Government and this will unfortunately impact on the services we can offer, in particular telephone calls which, at the moment, we cannot access.

Taxi Licensing

Face to Face Appointments

All face to face appointments for applications in respect of private hire / hackney carriage licences have been suspended until further notice. The appointment system will re-open when normal service resumes.

New Applications

Unfortunately, we will not be accepting or processing any application for new private hire / hackney carriage licences at this time. Our priority at this time is to ensure that existing licence holders and businesses can continue to operate, where possible.

Renewal Applications

The following arrangements have been put in place to ensure that we can continue to deliver a service which allows you to continue to operate at this time.

Drivers

The procedure for the renewal of any existing private hire/hackney carriage driver licence will be as follows:

Complete the application by using either the PDF or MS version.  The MS version can be completed on your screen then emailed.  The PDF will of course have to be scanned and emailed.

In the ‘Reference’ box, your driver’s licence number should be entered with 0000 preceding the number i.e. ‘00004545’.

Email any documentation previously requested.

Upon receipt of your completed application, any documents and relevant fee, we will contact you to explain the next steps.

Vehicles

As above and you will also need to email your valid insurance certificate, or alternatively ask your insurance company to send this to us on your behalf.
