In early 2018, the difficult decision was taken for this site to stop operating as a leisure facility due to unsustainable financial losses.

Since then, work has continued to assess the best long-term use of the site which is a key asset for the council.

The Bushey Country Club Consultation Group was established, with cross-party political and community representation, to explore and identify potential options for redevelopment of the site and a number of consultation events and focus groups were organised.

We are grateful to the Bushey Forum for the part they have played in hosting and co-ordinating some of the consultation events and to those in the local community who have given us their ideas and views at various points, very much an on-going process.

Whilst the longer-term future of the site was being assessed, a weddings and events management company has leased the facility, fulfilling our undertaking to generate income from this council asset and to keep it as a busy, functioning hub for Bushey, and the borough more widely.

This has also enabled the community centre section of the site to continue operating and provide a cafe facility- something you told us was important to you.

An online event was held on Thursday 18 March across zoom and our webcast system, which around 250 people joined.  You can watch a recording of that meeting.    You can also continue to give your views and comments about the future of the former Bushey Country Club site - visit www.formerbusheycountryclub.commonplace.is    A comprehensive set of Frequently Asked Questions has also been added to that site.
