Each year we run a programme of events which aim to entertain, educate, inspire and raise the aspirations of our local youth.
Drug addiction and crime workshop
We work with inspriational speaker, Paul Hannaford, to provide hard-hitting workshops based on his own experiences of addiction and crime.
Health and Wellbeing Roadshow
Almost 300 students from Borehamwood's Yavneh College took part in a 'resilience' health and wellbeing roadshow.
The roadshow was run for Year 10 and 11 students in preparation for taking exams, aimed at helping them deal with the stresses that often go
Once a year, local pupils in years seven to 13 get involved in local democracy. The event covers a range of topical issues affecting young people in Hertsmere; gives them a chance to learn about how democracy works; and provides them with an opportunity to meet local councillors to discuss and give their opinions on local issues.
Choices is an event for young people in years 8, 9 and 10, who could benefit from hearing messages about the choices they make and the consequences of those choices. Workshops during the day include
- A talk from an ex-prisoner
- A talk from an ex-drug user
- Fire safety – the consequences of fire play
- Know Your Rights – Stop and Search
The day concludes with a theatre performance by ARC Theatre based on the topic of anti-social behaviour. It is an interactive play where the young people get to call time out during the play and shape what happens in the next scene.
