Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are open to members of the public and operated by Hertfordshire County Council.
Van permits
Please note: a permit is now required if you wish to visit a site in a van, pick-up truck, commercial type vehicle or vehicle and trailer combination. For more information and to apply please visit WasteAware.
The following sites are in Hertsmere:
Allum Lane, Elstree, WD6 3LS
Monday, Thursday and Friday 8am - 4pm, Saturday/Sunday 9am - 5pm.
CLOSED Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Cranborne Road, Potters Bar, EN6 3JN
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm in summer (April-Sept) and 8am - 4pm in winter (Oct-March)
CLOSED Thursdays and Fridays
As well as general rubbish, a wide range of recyclables are accepted at the sites including:

- Plastic

- Toner cartridges
- TVs and monitors
- Tyres
- White goods e.g. washing machines
