Every house should have a black bin, green bin, brown bin and a blue box.

All bins are collected over a two-week period, on the same day each week:

  • Week 1 - black bin and blue box
  • Week 2 - green bin and brown bin

Please place bins/boxes on your boundary by 6am on the day of your collection. For more collection details please read our Service Rules (pdf.195Kb) or Recycling in Hertsmere (pdf.5Kb)

Check our collection calendar (pdf.80kb) to find out which week it is.

What day is my collection?

To find out which day your collection takes place please enter your postcode

Please note: the collection days stated are for houses only. If you live in a flat or property with communal bin stores please contact us directly. The same applies to school buildings and trade/commercial premises.

Flats recycling

If your flats have recycling bins it is important to  put the correct items in - see Recycling in Flats (pdf.5MB) for more information.

Some flats don't have enough space for additional bins so we would encourage all residents to recycle at their local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Assisted Collection

If you struggle to put your bins out for collection due to age or medical conditions and don't have anyone else in your household to do it for you, we can help.
