Encouraging and enabling our communities to act against climate change is an integral part of our Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy. We are inviting local community groups to come forward with project proposals that can benefit from additional funding.
Small grants of up to £500 is available to local groups from a pool of £10,000. To be eligible, projects must demonstrate climate action within Hertsmere relating to one or more of the following key themes:
- Waste and resources
- Local food production
- Other carbon emission removal/reduction projects
The projects must engage with or benefit Hertsmere’s local community, provide measurable benefits and demonstrate value for money and deliverability.
Projects could include tree planting and habitat improvement schemes, awareness campaigns to help people make changes to their lifestyle, green travel and sustainable transport plans, energy saving in community buildings, local food projects, in addition to recycling and reuse initiatives.
