Statement of persons nominated - May 2021 elections

Last Modified April 12, 2021

On Thursday 6 May residents in Hertsmere will have their say on who represents them in Borehamwood Kenilworth and Bushey North borough council wards; South Mimms, Shenley and Aldenham Parish Councils; Hertfordshire County Council wards as well as who performs the role of Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner.  Eligible residents in Shenley and Radlett will be able to vote in planning referenda.

Details of the candidates have been published on our website: www.hertsmere.gov.uk/electionnotices  It is the responsibility of individuals and their parties to promote themselves and why they want you to vote for them.

If you have not yet registered to vote, have recently moved house or turned 18, you will need to register in order to be able to vote.  You can register to vote at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.  This takes five minutes and you will need your National Insurance number.  The deadline for registering to vote is midnight on Monday 19 April.

Voting in person at a polling station

If you want to vote in person and are registered, a poll card will be sent to you about five weeks before the election. If you have not received a poll card please contact our Electoral Services team on 020 8207 7481 or email elections@hertsmere.gov.uk. The card tells you where you should vote – you can only vote at your allocated polling station. You do not need your poll card to vote although it is helpful for you to bring it to the station.

Voting by post

If you are registered for a postal vote you will be sent your ballot paper approximately two weeks before the election and you will need to post it back to us. To vote by post you need to apply.  Forms must be completed and received back by the deadline of 5pm on Tuesday 20 April.

Voting by proxy

Proxy voting means another person can vote on your behalf. To vote by proxy, you will have completed a form and returned it to the Electoral Services team by 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.

You can have someone vote on your behalf if:
• You will be away on holiday
• You have to work away from home
• You are ill or in hospital.
