Grants to 50 different organisations, of over £22,500 in total, have been awarded as part of a special King’s Coronation Grants programme from Hertsmere Borough Council.
National celebrations for the Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort are to take place the weekend of 6 to 8 May 2023.
To support local celebrations, the council created a grants programme of up to £500 to help those who wished to run events that celebrate and mark the Coronation in the borough to help residents come together to celebrate this historic milestone.
It is hoped that supporting a range of local events will enable communities across Hertsmere to take part in celebrations that are easily accessible and free to attend.
Grants have been awarded to a wide range of groups from all across the borough including schools, faith groups, scouts, sports clubs, community groups and housing associations, as well as supporting some of the larger events taking place in our local communities.
Hilary Shade, Head of Partnerships and Community Engagement, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support an amazing range of events across Hertsmere and I hope local residents from across the borough are able to join the celebrations on this historic occasion.
“Our aim is to help people celebrate with their loved ones for a weekend of fun and festivities. By allocating funding to lots of different organisations in towns and villages across Hertsmere there should be a celebration near you, so please join in the festivities as we mark this once in a lifetime event.
“We look forward to hearing about the celebrations happening in Hertsmere.”
