Councillor Caroline Clapper
From tea dances to sporting activities or even a day trip, Hertsmere Borough Council is proud to be offering funding for events for the over 65s as part of Older People’s Day and Silver Sunday.
Community groups and voluntary organisations could receive a grant of up to £300 to cover the cost of events arranged between Older People’s Day on 1 October and Silver Sunday on 7 October.
The aim of the two national celebrations is to recognise the achievements and contributions that older people make to society by offering a range of free activities.
Councillor Caroline Clapper, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Health, said: “Older people are often the unsung heroes in our communities so this is an opportunity to put their efforts in the spotlight and recognise their invaluable contribution.
“These grants will enable organisations to put on successful events which will hopefully attract a lot of interest from the over 65 age group and provide them with a lot of enjoyment.”
If you would like to take advantage of a grant for your group, please visit https://www.hertsmere.gov.uk/olderpeoplesday where you will find an application form.
