Planning advice face-to-face

We’re improving the way members of the public can get information and advice on general planning issues.

From next month, customers will be able to benefit from a 15 minute appointment with a planning officer either face-to-face at our offices in Borehamwood or on the phone. Appointments will be available from 9am until 1pm Mondays and Fridays.

Under the service, customers will be able to get good quality advice and information on the planning application process. The service is not available for detailed pre-application advice.

Currently, customers have a limited window to call the duty planning service and face-to-face appointments are not available.

Adrien Waite, Head of Planning and Economic Development, said: “We really hope this change to our duty planner service will benefit everyone.

“Customers will be guaranteed a slot with a planning officer and they can choose whether they’d like to speak to someone over the phone or face-to-face.

“And our officers will have time to prepare in advance for the meeting and bring as much relevant information as possible to that appointment.

“All in all, the changes should mean the service will run more smoothly, there will be less necessity for customers to wait around on the phone and we will be able to offer even higher quality advice.”

Duty planner appointments will be available to book from Monday 1 July by calling our switchboard on 020 8207 2277. The first appointments under the new service will be available from Monday 15 July.
Face-to-face appointments will only be available at the Civic Offices in Elstree Way.
