Temporary suspension of parking charges and enforcement

Last Modified March 24, 2020

Parking charges and parking enforcement for most contraventions in the borough have been suspended until further notice as part of the response to the coronavirus outbreak.

However double yellow lines are still being enforced to stop any dangerous parking and to keep the traffic flowing.

This came into effect from 8am today (24 March 2020). We will keep this under review over the coming weeks and react to any further developments where and when necessary.

Cllr Jean Heywood, Portfolio Holder for Transport, said: “We are making some adjustments to our services, in line with government guidelines, as part of the huge effort by everyone to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

“The suspension of parking enforcement does also include the residential controlled parking zones. We recognise the concerns in residential areas where people are now at home. We’re facing exceptional challenges presented by the Coronavirus and we all need to play a role in responding to that."
