Inspiring inclusion this International Women's Day

Last Modified March 08, 2024

Community leaders, our staff and local residents in Hertsmere pledge to continue the fight for equality for International Women’s Day (IWD).

IWD, today (Friday 8 March) provides an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements, whilst taking action for equality.

This year’s campaign theme acknowledges that when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

To support the day, we are helping to spread the word about the social media campaign, posting content of our staff striking the IWD #InspireInclusion pose to show solidarity and encouraging others to do the same.

We have also organised International Women’s Day Health Walks in Potters Bar and Radlett, where dozens of participants strode out to show they don’t just talk the talk when it comes to supporting International Women’s Day, they also walk the walk.

Sajida Bijle, our Managing Director said: “As a council, it is our duty to ensure the needs, interests and aspirations of women and girls are valued and included both within our workforce and in our communities.

”We are proud to be supporting International Women’s Day, both through the #InspireInclusion campaign, and in the way we champion women’s success within our organisation every day.

“And in our role as an employer, this is why we have annual equal pay audits, a structured job evaluation scheme and family friendly policies, as well as a good representation of women in senior and middle management roles.”
