Our annual canvass, which asked households across the borough to check their electoral register information, is coming to a close.
We sent household enquiry forms to all 43,000 residential addresses in the borough during the summer, asking occupants to make sure the details held about their property on the electoral register were up to date. This helped to identify any residents who were not registered and encouraged them to do so.
With the announcement that a General Election will now take place on 12 December, the canvass will close and online responses to the household enquiry forms will no longer be accepted, although the forms can be returned by post until 22 November.
Sam Langford, our Electoral Services Manager, said: “The vast majority of households responded either online or by returning the form and I would like to thank everyone for helping to ensure the electoral register for our borough is up to date.
“Now that a General Election date has been announced, people will no longer be able to use the online response option to the household enquiry forms.”
Sam added: “I would stress though that it is not too late to register to vote in the General Election. You can do that until 26 November.”
If you want to register, the easiest way is online. Visit our register to vote pages for more information.
