The Local Plan sets out our ambitions for green, sustainable growth to ensure Hertsmere continues to thrive economically. It also details how and where new homes, jobs and essential investment can be delivered, along with required infrastructure like schools, health facilities and sustainable transport.
We'd like to hear from all our stakeholders including residents, businesses, community groups, landowners, housebuilders and statutory bodies. At this stage of the preparation of our new Local Plan, we want to ensure that we understand the views, aspirations and concerns of all groups, building on the extensive public consultation we have already undertaken.
How to respond
You can respond in one of four ways:
- For the general public, please respond through our new consultation and engagement hub (text responses only, no login required). We encourage responses through the consultation platform. - For any consultees needing to upload additional documents or technical submissions please use the Objective consultation platform. (Please note this is aimed primarily at statutory consultees, developers and landowners and requires an account. It is open for anyone who wishes to include documents or images alongside comments).

More about the New Local Plan
The Local Plan sets out our plan for green, sustainable growth in the borough and to ensure Hertsmere continues to thrive economically until 2040 and beyond.
It details how and where new homes, jobs and essential investment can be delivered, along with schools, health facilities and green sustainable transport measures, and will contain the policies on which the council will base decisions on planning applications.
At an Extraordinary council meeting took place on Wednesday 20 March, councillors agreed to publish the draft Local Plan which focuses on a number of key areas, notably housing and employment site allocations, and the revisions that have been made since the last consultation in 2021.
We have prepared some Frequently Asked Questions about the Local Plan.
