Following informal consultation with local user groups, we have decided to make an order to divert the line of Shenley footpath 3. This path currently runs through the Well End Activity Centre run by the Scouts, and the proposed diversion would instead take the path along the edge of the centre, parallel with Well End Road.
We have served notice of the making of the order on the required parties, as required under Schedule 6 of the Highways Act 1980.
The Hertsmere Borough Council (Shenley 3) Diversion Order 2020 was made on 4 May 2020.
The order is part of a wider scheme which includes upgrading the new line of the Shenley 3 footpath from Well End Road (near Point B) to Shenley 1 footpath and then back to Well End Road (near point C) to bridleway, and increase its width from 3m to 4m. It is our intention that the order and agreement will come into force at the same time.
1. The order will be advertised for a period of four weeks. An advert will be placed in the Barnet Borough Times on 4 June 2020, and notices are being put up at the entrances to the footpath, and at the borough and parish council offices. They are also available on this webpage (above), with hard copies available on request from local.plan@hertsmere.gov.uk . Copies of the order are also being sent to the landowners, occupiers, statutory undertakers and interested user groups.
2. Anyone may make a representation or objection to the order in the four weeks while the order is being advertised. This must be made in writing (this includes by email) before the 6 July 2020 and should include the reasons for making the objection or representation.

3. After the advertising period ends, we can decide to:
4. Any works needed to bring the new line of the path into use will be completed before the order is confirmed.
5. Please note that making the order does not mean the change has happened; this will happen when the order is confirmed. The change will then be recorded on the Definitive Rights of Way Map and Statement by the county council.
