2020 Police & Crime Commissioner Election

On Thursday 7 May 2020 an election is due to be held for the Hertfordshire Police & Crime Commissioner. This page deals with the area of Hertsmere as part of Hertfordshire. This will be done using the Alternative Vote system. 

The count for Hertsmere will take place in the Committee Rooms at the Civic Offices, Elstree Way, Borehamwood on Monday 11 May 2020 and will be attended by nominees from the political parties. 

Where do I vote?

You should receive a Polling Card which will tell you where to vote.  You do not need it to vote.

The polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on the day of the election.

What if I can’t get to my polling station?

Our page on Different ways to vote includes details of postal votes (where you can vote in advance of election day by post) and proxy voting (where you can ask someone to vote on your behalf).

  • Postal vote applications and changes deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 22 April.
  • Proxy vote applications and deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 29 April.

Please ensure that where possible you make any requests well in advance.  There are limited situations where you may be eligible to apply for a late proxy after the deadline, please contact the Elections team for more information.

What if I want to be a candidate?

Nominations for the Hertfordshire Police & Crime Commissioner election will be open from Friday 20 March 2020 until 4pm on 8 April 2020.

Information on becoming a candidate for the  Hertfordshire Police & Crime Commissioner elections can be found on the Electoral Commission website or from the Regional Returning Officer for the Eastern Region at  https://www.broxbourne.gov.uk/ .
