There are two versions of the electoral register: the full register and the open register.
The Full Register
The full register includes the name and UK address of everyone registered to vote, except people registered anonymously. You cannot opt out of it. It is used to run elections and referendums, including sending poll cards. The law also permits its use for:
• election campaigning by candidates and political parties
• preventing and detecting crime
• checking applications for loans or credit
• summoning people for jury service.
Contact Electoral Services at elections@hertsmere.gov.uk to arrange to inspect the full register at the Civic Offices.
The Open Register
The open register can be bought by anyone. You can opt out without affecting your right to vote. If you have not already opted out, contact Electoral Services at elections@hertsmere.gov.uk with your name and address.
Opting out removes your details from the open register. Your details will still appear on the full register unless you are registered anonymously.
