The UK has left the EU. There is now a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements.
Trade, travel and business
The current rules on trade, travel and business between the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period. New rules will apply from 1 January 2021.
You can prepare for the new rules and take action now before January 2021.
EU Settlement Scheme
We’re encouraging all EU nationals, including those from the European Economic Area or Switzerland, to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme if you want to protect your rights and the rights of your family to stay in the UK.
As part of the process, you will need to have proof of your identity and proof that you live in the UK. You will also be asked to declare any criminal convictions.
The deadline for applications is 30 June 2021.
