Your Council Tax bill is made up of:

• A charge from Hertsmere Borough Council
• A charge from Hertfordshire County Council
• A charge from the Police and Crime Commissioner
• Your local parish or town council's charge (if applicable)

Hertfordshire County Council Charge

Hertfordshire County Council will spend more than £1.2 billion delivering services to residents and businesses across the county in 2026/27. The County’s budget for 2026/27 includes a 4.99% increase, which is broken down as:

• 2% for Adult Social Care
• 2.99% for general expenditure

Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire

The charge for the Police and Crime Commissioner has increased by £14 for a Band D property compared to the previous year.

Hertsmere Borough Council

Hertsmere Borough Council’s share of your council tax is 9% of the total. The charge has increased by 2.99%, which is £6.28 for Band D properties compared to the previous year.

Parish/Town Council Charges

Parish or Town Councils set their own rates. This charge only applies if you live in an area with a parish or town council. Residents Bushey, Potters Bar, and Meriden are unparished and therefore do not pay a parish or town council charge.  For more information, please contact your Parish / Town Council.
