A former Hertsmere Borough Council property in Borehamwood is set to begin a new chapter after being sold to Hatzola Herts, where it will become the charity’s new operational hub.
The building at 39 Theobald Street, that was previously a hostel but had been vacant for some time, has now been purchased by the volunteer run emergency ambulance service following the completion of the sale.
Hatzola Herts is a volunteer run emergency ambulance service, with local volunteers from Hertsmere among its responders. Its responders include doctors, paramedics and first responders, who provide emergency medical assistance free of charge to members of the public, helping to relieve pressure on local NHS provision. Hatzola Herts forms part of the wider Hatzola network, which serves communities across North London and beyond.
The new hub will provide Hatzola Herts with a permanent base for its emergency response operations, helping to strengthen local community infrastructure and support the organisation’s lifesaving work.
Councillor Jeremy Newmark, Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, said:
“This is a huge win for local people and our community. It delivers my commitment to bring a long-vacant building back into use and support an organisation that provides an important emergency service to establish a permanent base in Borehamwood.
“We are delighted to have worked with Hatzola Herts to enable this next chapter and look forward to seeing the organisation continue to save lives and provide emergency medical support.”
