Have your say on plans to improve walking, wheeling and cycling across Hertsmere

Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) and Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) are inviting residents, businesses and community groups to share their views on the Hertsmere Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP), which will go out to public consultation for six weeks from 30 March 2026.

The LCWIP sets out draft proposals to make it easier, safer and more enjoyable to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys in four focus areas across Hertsmere:

  • Borehamwood & Elstree
  • Potters Bar & South Mimms
  • Radlett, Shenley & Aldenham
  • Bushey

Residents will be able to explore the interactive online map, read more about the proposals and complete a short survey to share feedback on both the plan and specific routes here: www.Hertfordshire.gov.uk/hertsmerelcwip2026

The plan aims to support healthier travel choices, reduce carbon emissions and air pollution, and strengthen local town centres by making it easier for everyone – regardless of age or ability to get around.

Feedback from the consultation will help us to refine proposals to improve safety, accessibility and connectivity. We will also assess overall support for the aims and objectives of the LCWIP and build an evidence base to support adoption of the Plan and future funding bids.

HCC is working closely with HBC to make sure local voices are at the centre of the proposals and that information reaches under‑represented groups. Alongside online engagement, there will be in‑person events such as community drop‑ins, market stalls and targeted outreach, with accessible formats available on request.
