We're inviting residents to share their views on a range of proposed improvements to Meadow Park in Borehamwood, as part of final phase of investment in this much-loved community space.
We have launched a public survey to gather feedback on plans that include creating a landscaped pedestrian link from the park to Brook Road, reconfiguring the car park to improve access and safety, installing toilet and refreshment facilities, and enhancing amenities such as CCTV, seating and waste bins.
These proposals build on significant previous investments, including the opening of a popular splash zone in 2022, as well as the development of an inclusive toddler play area, landscaped activity space for older children, an outdoor fitness zone, electronic interactive play equipment, and upgraded footpaths and landscaping.
Councillor Chris Myers, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, Parks, Leisure and Culture, said:“Meadow Park is a well-loved park in the heart of Borehamwood and a cherished open space for many in our community. Over the past few years, we’ve made substantial improvements to create a space that is accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for all ages.
“We now want to complete these improvements and are asking for your views to help shape the final phase. Whether it’s the type of refreshment facilities, the need for public toilets, or enhancements to safety and accessibility, your feedback is essential in guiding how we move forward."
The survey seeks views on the following proposals:
· Creating a landscaped tree-lined avenue linking the park to Brook Road, enhancing pedestrian access and dividing the car park for safety.
· Planting trees within the car park to increase shade and improve the park’s green frontage.
· Providing separate access for football fans to ease congestion on match days.
· Options for installing toilet and refreshment facilities, including the potential for a café or smaller food bar.
· Additional seating, waste bins and CCTV cameras to improve comfort and security.
Cllr Myers added: "The proposals for Meadow Park are currently on display in the park and we're holding a consultation event at Boreham Wood Football Club for residents to find out more. Come along and have your say!"
Display panels outlining the proposals are currently on display in Meadow Park, complete with a QR code link to the survey.
In addition, members of the public are invited to meet with council officers and councillors to discuss the plans in more detail at a public drop-in event, which will be held at:
