Hertsmere Borough Council has now exchanged contracts on the Stonham House site on Theobald Street, Borehamwood enabling it to be brought forward for housing and community use.
The agreement will see the site used to deliver new homes.
It will also be used as a permanent headquarters and ambulance base for Hatzolah, a volunteer led emergency medical service providing a rapid response to people experiencing medical emergencies at no cost to communities. It operates 24 hours a day and provides a critical role in delivering immediate, life saving care within the community.
The exchange of contracts marks an important step in bringing a long vacant site back into active use.
Cllr Jeremy Newmark, Leader of the council said:
This site has been left derelict for far too long. I am pleased to have delivered on my pledge to ensure that the council took back control of the site from the previous leaseholder for the benefit of the local community.
I am delighted to be delivering this innovative deal that will transform an eyesore into much needed new homes together with a community hub and permanent base for a wonderful volunteer ambulance service that provides critical immediate medical care for local people.”
Harry Yisroel Abenson, Director of Operations Hatzola Herts said :
Hatzola Herts is delighted to announce the exchange of contracts on 39 Theobald Street, Borehamwood.
