Students from across Hertsmere have been given the opportunity to explore their future careers and connect with local employers at this year's Generation Hertsmere careers fair, which saw its highest level of participation yet.
Organised by Hertsmere Borough Council in partnership with Hertfordshire Careers Hub (Hertfordshire Futures), the event brought together 75 businesses and organisations, with over 1000 students from 11 secondary schools attending.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Parveen Rani, the Leader of the Council, Cllr Jeremy Newmark, and Gareth Dace, Head of Programmes and Policy at Hertfordshire Futures.
The annual event showcases the wide range of career opportunities available across Hertsmere and beyond, helping young people discover different industries, learn about potential career paths and speak directly to employers.
From film and the creative industries to technology, education and public services, exhibitors were on hand to share their experiences, offer advice and inspire the next generation of local talent.
Cllr Jeremy Newmark, Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, said:
"Generation Hertsmere continues to go from strength to strength, and it's fantastic to see even more employers and schools taking part this year.
"Giving young people the chance to meet employers face to face, ask questions and discover opportunities they might never have considered can make a real difference to their futures. We're proud to work with Hertfordshire Futures to help connect local talent with local opportunities and support our ambitions for growth, skills and high quality jobs across the borough."
Gareth Dace, Head of Programmes and Policy at Hertfordshire Futures said:
“It is our great pleasure to work, once again, so closely with the team at Hertsmere to deliver such a fantastic, vibrant Generation event. This is the fifth annual Generation Hertsmere event and it supplements the other Generation events that take place across Hertfordshire. These events are invaluable at providing a meeting point for young people seeking careers inspiration and local employers looking to reach out to their future workforce.
"Generation Hertsmere has once again grown in scale with an incredible 75 exhibitors attending and over 1000 young people attending throughout the day.
“Our feedback clearly indicates that schools and young people really value this opportunity and that it really does make a positive difference in helping them start to map out their future.”
