Meadow Park Improvements – Shaped by You

The final phase of a major transformation at Meadow Park, one of Borehamwood’s most cherished green spaces, has been announced – and it’s all thanks to your feedback.

Earlier this year, we asked what you'd like to see added to complete the £1 million investment in Meadow Park. More than 1,500 comments were received, helping to shape the park’s final design.

The updated plans – now submitted for formal planning permission – include a range of new and improved facilities based directly on your suggestions:

  • A new café offering refreshments for park users and a welcoming space for families and visitors.
  • A tree-lined pedestrian avenue connecting Meadow Park to Brook Road, designed to improve access while dividing the car park for better safety.
  • Additional trees throughout the car park, enhancing the park’s green frontage and providing welcome shade.
  • A dedicated entrance for football fans, easing congestion on match days.
  • More seating, litter bins, and CCTV, improving comfort, cleanliness and safety across the park.

These improvements build on recent enhancements including a splash zone opened in 2022, an inclusive toddler play area, an activity space for older children, outdoor gym equipment, electronic interactive play, and upgraded footpaths and landscaping.

Councillor Chris Myers, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, Parks, Leisure and Culture, said: “Meadow Park is a treasured space at the heart of Borehamwood. In recent years we’ve worked hard to make it more inclusive, accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

“Thank you to all who took part in the latest consultation. Your feedback has shaped these final plans – from café facilities to better access and safety measures.

“Green spaces like Meadow Park are more important than ever. They’re places where people of all ages can enjoy nature, stay active, and connect with others – all at no cost. Especially during the ongoing cost of living crisis, they are a vital community resource.

“Special thanks also go to the Borehamwood Four Parks Friends Group for their continued dedication and support.”
