Hertsmere’s Borough Councillors and faith leaders from across the borough came together for a memorial vigil to mark the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks.
The vigil offered a time to remember those who lost their lives, stand with all those affected by the events and their aftermath, and reflect on the continuing impact on our community, and communities around the world.

Councillor Jeremy Newmark, Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, said:
“Three years on from the 7 October massacre of over 1200 civilians in Southern Israel by Hamas terrorists, many people across Hertsmere’s communities continue to carry the pain and sadness of the events of October 7 and the devastating consequences that followed.
“Our vigil was an opportunity to come together in official civic remembrance, in a spirit of shared humanity, to honour those who were killed, recognise the courage of the hostages who survived and to express solidarity with all those whose lives have been affected.
“We also remembered Jake Marlow, from Potters Bar who was brutally murdered by Hamas during the attacks.
“Hertsmere is home to many different communities, and we remain committed to bringing our communities together, strengthening understanding and respect, and supporting a future of lasting peace. “
