Public Consultation Launched on Housing Enforcement and Licensing Policy

Residents are being invited to share their views as Hertsmere Borough Council launches a public consultation on its proposed Housing Enforcement and Licensing Policy.

The consultation provides an opportunity for the community to help shape how the Council:

  • Tackles poor housing conditions
  • Supports responsible landlords
  • Addresses issues such as overcrowding and property management standards
  • Uses enforcement powers in a fair and consistent way

The policy’s aim is to ensure that all residents have access to safe, well managed, and good quality homes.

The proposed policy reflects updates in legislation and best practice and aims to strike a balance between supporting compliant landlords and taking firm action against those who fail to meet required standards.

The consultation will run from 16th April 2026 to 28th May 2026.
