The enhanced street cleaning service will provide more frequent cleansing operations, including regular pavement washing in high streets, repainting street furniture where needed, washing out graffiti on service boxes and more litter patrols.
The council has also invested in its community enforcement programme, with more red vested officers increasing patrols, strengthening frontline teams and enhancing the council’s ability to tackle littering and fly-tipping.
The investment is part of the council’s commitment to ensuring residents can enjoy cleaner, safer and more welcoming neighbourhoods.
Cllr Jeremy Newmark, Leader of the Council said:
“We have been clear about our commitment to increasing pride in our place, and pride in our neighbourhoods.
“That is why we have invested over half a million pounds in the street cleaning team and community enforcement officers to deliver cleaner streets, safer communities and visible improvements that residents, businesses and visitors can see right across Hertsmere.”
