Seasonal card competition winners announced!

The Mayor of Hertsmere presents winner Minuthi with her prize with her parents and brother in the background

Our annual seasonal card competition for youngsters aged 11 or below resulted in some fantastic designs, which made judging very difficult for the Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Alpha Collins.

He picked three winning designs. In first place (gold certificate) was Minuthi Subasinghe Mudiyanselage, aged seven, a pupil at St. Teresa Catholic Primary School in Borehamwood.

Yesterday 20 November, he presented Minuthi with her prize at a special assembly organised by the school – her parents and brother joined the very special event. Unexpectedly, the Mayor himself was also presented with a fantastic card designed by all of the children, which will take pride of place in the Mayor’s office.

Joint runners-up (silver certificates) were awarded to Sara Haczelska-Zub, aged six, and Swasthi Menon, aged five, both from Ladbrooke JMI School in Potters Bar.

Cllr Alpha Collins, Mayor of Hertsmere said:

“Many congratulations to the winners but also to all of those children who entered the competition – there were so many different designs to judge and it’s clear that we have some very talented and creative designers across Hertsmere.”

All three designs have been reproduced by our graphic designer and also replicated on our website and social media channels. Minuthi’s winning design will be used as a printed card by the Mayor to send to local partners, and as an e-card for use by staff and councillors.

All three winners received a certificate, 24 printed copies of their cards and a poster, along with gift vouchers.
