We are activating our severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) from midday on Thursday 1 January 2026, until Monday 5 January because of the freezing temperatures forecast this week.
It means we will provide temporary accommodation for those who are rough sleeping in our borough. We routinely activate SWEP during bad weather to keep rough sleepers safe, as well as operate our No Second Night Out policy throughout the year.
We are currently actively engaging with all known rough sleepers in the borough.
