Supporting interfaith relations amongst our young communities

An annual interfaith summer camp, part-funded by our community grant, was held in Borehamwood last week.

Camp Unity, a five-day overnight camp for primary school pupils, aims to bring local communities together to promote friendships among children who might not ordinarily meet; to encourage exploration of the outdoors and to help build confidence and life skills.

A £2,500 community grant from us has been used to help fund this year's event, which saw 32 children participate from various religious and cultural backgrounds.

Councillor Christian Gray, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be supporting this event which provides children with opportunities to meet other cultures and foster friendships, leading to greater community cohesion.

“Inclusion and acceptance starts from an early age and we are proud to support events which promotes and celebrates the diversity of our wonderful vibrant borough.”
