We enforce health and safety at work.
Some workplaces will be the responsibility of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), rather than us, according to the nature of the work carried out - we can advise or you can check the Enforcing Authority guide.
We produce a service plan every year, detailing the aims and objectives of the Health and Safety Enforcement service and how it is run.
The service plan is produced in a format prescribed by the Health and Safety Executive. It is reviewed annually to identify our performance against it, any variance from it and areas for improvement within the service.

Some workplaces will be the responsibility of the Health and Safety Executive, rather than the council, according to the nature of the work carried out. We can advise you who the relevant 'enforcing authority' for health and safety purposes is, when you contact us or check the Enforcing Authority guide produced by the Health and Safety Executive.
If you make a complaint about a workplace, we will require your name, address and contact details so that we can keep you informed of our progress.
