Council staff show support to struggling families at Christmas

Last Modified December 16, 2021
Despite moving to working from home, our staff have rallied together to donate four crates filled with grocery items to a local foodbank to aid families struggling with their finances this Christmas.

Colleagues were encouraged to donate to Borehamwood Foodbank in Shenley Road in time for their festive collections. Items ranging from tinned food, pasta and breakfast cereals to biscuits and chocolates have been delivered to the foodbank.

Once working from home came in to place, we were encouraged to donate to our local foodbanks in place of bringing items to the offices.

Sajida Bijle, our Manager Director, said: “As a council, we work hard to support our local communities, and in times of uncertainty it is more important than ever for us to support those that find themselves struggling.

“The festive season can be a magical time of year for many, but for some families it is a time which causes much financial pressure.

“Our staff donated a staggering amount of food and household items to the local Foodbank. They are a credit to the council. We hope the donations offer some relief to those in need this Christmas.”
