The Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Chris Myers, joined other dignitaries for a tour of a development of 15 affordable homes in Borehamwood, marking the completion of Hertsmere Developments Limited’s (HDL) first housing project.

Hertsmere Developments Limited (HDL), one of our subsidiaries, has completed the construction of Clarendon Gardens and now sold the development on to Hertsmere Living Limited (HLL).

HLL is the affordable stock holding company joint venture between us and Watford Community Housing. Letting of the homes has now started, with the properties ready for occupation.

The development has transformed a contaminated derelict building and adjacent land into 15 affordable homes designed for families, most with balconies and some with private gardens.

Councillor Paul Hodgson-Jones, Chairman of HDL, said “The completion of this first site, on time and on budget, marks a significant milestone for the company. It is pleasing to achieve this progress at HDL despite a challenging market place.

“This step demonstrates HDL can deliver financial returns and housing for Hertsmere Borough Council, our shareholder. We look forward to developing our future pipeline of projects and supporting the council’s long term objectives.”

HDL Development Director Josh Summers added:  “The completed development provides good quality homes and a long term legacy for HDL and HBC to be proud of. I have enjoyed working with Parrott Construction Limited and our consultants Baqus, their efforts and professionalism has been much appreciated.

“There is now an improved pedestrian path through the site that is well lit and overlooked by the new development, resulting in a safer pathway. It provides a convenient link to the park and for Grosvenor Road residents to the High Street. The adjoining Clarendon Park will open and close as usual during daylight hours for all local residents.”
