Taster sessions and mini health checks are among the activities on offer at a community health fair in Potters Bar next week.
Anyone wanting to learn more about how to improve their health and feel good can attend the Health and Wellbeing Event, organised by the Potters Bar Patient Participation Groups of the three Potters Bar surgeries, in conjunction with us, on Friday 8 September at the Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar.
The event will feature a market place with over 25 stalls offering wellbeing information services and advice to the Potters Bar community, such as Age UK, Citizens Advice, Carers in Herts, Alzheimer’s Society and Hertfordshire Mind Network.
There will also be health talks by GPs from the three local surgeries on Diabetes, Cancer and Weight Management, as well as mini health checks carries out by the surgery’s Health Care Assistants. Taster sessions will be on offer, such as Musical Memories by Herts Musical Memories, Jive Dancing by Footloose Dance Classes and Line Dancing by Angie’s Dance Academy.
The fair will be opened by the Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Chris Myers at 10am and will run until 3pm. No need to book, just drop in. Everyone is welcome to the event.
Councillor Parveen Rani, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, Parks, Leisure and Culture, said: “We are proud to be involved in the organisation of this valuable event.
“Your health affects all aspects of your life and it is so important that health support is accessible for everyone.
“Please take advantage of the day – whether there is a specific issue you would like to learn more about or just want to find out about services available to you. I hope to see lots of people there!”
Cllr Chris Myers, Mayor of Hertsmere, added: “I thoroughly look forward to opening this year’s community health fair and speaking to stallholders and residents about the support on offer.
“There is no better time than the present to make your health a priority!”
