Hertsmere Community Lottery celebrates second birthday!

Last Modified January 18, 2024

One Good Cause received extra funding, thanks to Hertsmere Community Lottery’s birthday draw on Monday 18 December 2023.

Borehamwood Youth Football Club received an additional £300 in support last month as a special gift from the community lottery on celebration of its second birthday. All Good Causes in Hertsmere who signed up to the scheme and went live by mid-December were automatically entered in to the prize draw.

When asked what the funding would go towards, Borehamwood Youth Football Club said “The money will go towards a VEO Camera and training equipment.

“It will help with the education of our coaches and players, provide a resource to further ensure the children’s welfare whilst playing football and improve team performance.

“Thanks to Hertsmere Community Lottery for your ongoing support of our Club and the 400 children who get the opportunity to play the beautiful game and I would encourage other organisations to join for the extra support and goodwill that can be gained”.

The Hertsmere Community Lottery can help local organisations and charities to raise unlimited and unrestricted year-round funds. The community lottery is on track to help local groups, sports clubs, heritage groups, voluntary organisations and charities raise around £10,000 in funds per year by selling lottery tickets to their supporters.

It is completely free to register and for every £1 ticket bought, organisations will receive 50p directly back to them, with a further 10p going to a Hertsmere general good causes fund. This compares to just 28p in the pound for the National Lottery, 27.5p from the Postcode Lottery and 20% from the Health Lottery going into good causes.

Councillor Christian Gray, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation Portfolio, said: “Congratulations to Borehamwood Youth Football Club on winning our second birthday prize draw. I hope this extra funding will support you in continuing the great work you do for our young footballing community.

“I would encourage all local Good Causes to sign up to Hertsmere Community Lottery. It is a simple way for organisations and groups that work to support our residents to connect with their supporters and raise vital funds.”

Each organisation that signs up will receive a dedicated webpage on our Hertsmere Community Lottery website and be provided with a range of online and printable marketing materials to help encourage supporters to play.
